Old Town Fairfax

Fairfax Boulevard Redevelopment
The EDA and City Economic Development Office have played a leadership role in the City’s efforts to develop a Master Plan to shape the future of Fairfax Boulevard, the City’s premier business corridor. Over the past forty years, the corridor has been the City’s primary economic engine, with retail and offices attracting people from throughout Northern Virginia. However, sections of the area are in need of renewal and redevelopment. The EDA maintains a focus on this ongoing effort and works with the City council, City staff, City Planning Commission, local businesses and developers to realize the vision of the Master Plan.

The EDA and City Economic Development Office are currently organizing the City’s first Economic Forum and Business Appreciation Awards to be held May 13, 2009 and continuously seek opportunities to support the growth of the City’s business base, including the permanent location of Fairfax Innovation Center start-up businesses within the city. Future efforts will be directed to specific goals related to:
- George Mason Square
- The Fairfax Innovation Center
- Old Town Fairfax
